The Power of Transformation is a Land Otter form created by artists Raven Skyriver and Preston Singletary. These two artists have been collaborating since 2018.

Raven and Preston both have Tlingit ancestry and their own unique approaches to glass. Raven has developed sculpting and color techniques to produce his whales and other animals from the natural world, while Preston adds Tlingit formline designs to these pieces.

Their friendship also drove them to working together on a variety of pieces and produce a limited number of pieces per year. The Land Otter occupies a unique place in Tlingit culture. They are powerful creatures who can transform shape and can appear as a familiar person or family member.

In Tlingit culture they are spooky and mythical figures who capture the souls of people who have drown or people who are lost in the wilderness. Once they capture human beings they transform them into land otters. There are many stories surrounding these animals who occupy the shamanic realm and it’s one of the first spirit helpers that a Shaman seeks when they are training to be healers of their community. Princess Mask, 2025

This bronze casting is inspired by Princess Angeline who was Chief Seattle’s daughter. This sculpture was conceptualized and produced in hot glass by Martin Janecký and Preston Singletary.

Preston and Martin met in 2003 at Pilchuck Glass School and have crossed paths over the years through different exhibitions as well as Pilchuck Glass School. They have been collaborating in hot glass since 2024.

Martin has developed a unique sculpting ability to render these lifelike faces out of hot glass using a technique related to chase and Repoussé . From a hot glass bubble he uses tools to push from the inside of a thick glass bubble and then adding the details with different tools. Available exclusively from the Preston Singletary Studio.

Killer Whale Chief, 2026

Killer Whale Chief is a bronze collaboration with artists Raven Skyriver that was originally made from hot glass. These forms are a blend of hot glass artistry and Tlingit formline design work. The designs are etched in with a sandblasting process once the glass has cooled to room temperature.

Killer Whales are revered animals that are said to have descended from wolves in mythologies. Killer Whale was carved out of a cedar log by an ancient man named Natislane and was commanded to take revenge on his brothers in law who left him stranded on a small rock in the middle of the ocean.

Once Killer Whale executed this order he was instructed to never harm humans ever again. Killer whales are usually friendly to humans and have been said to aid them in seal hunting in old times. They are also thought to be deceased chiefs who have been reincarnated as Killer Whales. Available exclusively from the Preston Singletary Studio.

The NCN Collective

NCN Collective is a creative group of glass makers and Indigenous artists including Preston Singletary, Martin Janecký, Raven Skyriver, Kelly O’Dell, Charles Parriott, and Joe David. NCN stands for Nuu-chah-nulth, the tribe that Joe David comes from.

We're thrilled to announce that new limited edition bronzes are officially here. Acquire these new bronzes, which features work by the NCN Collective, exclusively from the Preston Singletary Studio. Each one is made in collaboration with either artists Raven Skyriver or Martin Janecký , bringing their distinct styles together for these new works.

NCN Collective

This group has come together and are all connected through Joe David, who has over the years, taken each one under his wing and bestowed a tribal name to them. This helped unite the group as an artistic family that has deep ties to the tribal community in many different ways. The NCN Collective has a connectedness through the medium of glass and interpreting Native themes and concepts through their work.

These limited edition bronzes are offered exclusively through the Preston Singletary Studio and sales will support the work of the NCN Collective, for example traveling between the Pacific Northwest and Prague.
